humph

it's 11 o'clock and I should be getting to sleep now so I'll make this post really short...

Today, we had our Fitness Test for Gym. I thought that I would regress tremondously because I have not jogged or participated in cardio exercies for over a month! Surprisingly, I increased my leger situps total from 30 (very low...) to 65! This increase is probably because of swimming, where I built some abs. I increased my leger push-ups total from 20 to 26. The highest in the class was 33 because the tempo was set to a push-up/2 seconds. For the Beep Test, I increased my score from 10 to 11. I have not ran for 2 months (literally) yet I scored higher than last time, when I was running around 4 kilometres a day! This is probably because last time, I had ran 4 kilometres in the morning and ran the Beep Test during the first period, so my fatigue probably contributed to my not-as-high-as-I-could-have-scored score.

Anyways, back to ICS now...

I just spent a full two hours completing my advertisement. It looks great because the whole page is composed of a single image (a giant great-white-shark jumping out of the water with its jaws completely open) with the words "Feeding Frenzy 11-01-21". Due to the inspiration of sharks, I had to completely change my AP04 page and game because I had to switch the character variables into shark.

Tomorrow at lunch, I'm planning on picking my laminated advertisement up for 55 cents...

That's it.

Tuesday 18 January, 2011

its almost 11 am so I'll make this really quick

Today, I had piano lessons and I had to bus home after so I got home at 6 o'clock.

I worked on my User Manual and Testing Report for 2 hours and currently, I have both on my Web page, however, both still need to be completed...

Tomorrow, I'll finish these things and my advertisement, which will only involve adding the title and a few sentences...

In the meantime, I'll study for the English and ICS Exams; both of which my teachers had leaked information about...

That's it for today.

Monday 17 January, 2011

Yikes!!!

There's only one week of school left before the exams begin! Luckily, I only have two exams to study for (English and Computer Studies) but that doesn't mean I can slack off! In fact, I have to work extra hard the next four days to finish my ICS Culminating Assignment. I still have to complete my Testing Report, User Manual, and advertisement in only four days! I've already completed half of the Testing Report and the advertisement will only take an hour to complete, but the User Manual will take a couple of days...

Tomorrow, I have piano lessons, which means that I'll be arriving at home at 6 o'clock (I have to bus too!) and on Friday, I have to bus to drawing class, then walk to Theory Class!!! Saturday, I might go to Blue Mountain again! With so many activities being conjured out of nowhere, I really have to focus and shift into crazy IB work-mode to progress against my ICS Assignment and study hard for my two exams!!!

I'm going to keep my posts for this week extremely short because of the lack of time (I would be one of those people who think there's not enough time...)

That's all for today.

Thursday 13 January, 2011

sorry
I haven't been on the Internet quite as often this week due to numerous reasons. For that reason, I'll summarize and update my entire week (from January 10) in this post.

Tuesday and Wednesday were spent on my English Culminating Activity which involved filming a mock reality show that conveys messages and themes discussed during the English Unit. My group actually spent 2 hours filming the play at Brookbanks Library. The product has been finalized and tomorrow, it will be viewed by our classmates.

I revamped my code so that the user interface is more sophisticated and professional. Instead of having the user press keyboard characters to select and perform tasks, I can now have users select their options with a click of a mouse. I encountered many errors along the way and I will definitely include them in my Testing Report! The Testing Report is almost complete, but the flowchart and user manual are not. I started on a flowchart with Gliffy, suggested by Mr. Arkin a couple of days ago, but I deleted my progress because I completely changed the flow of logic in my code. The flowchart will only take 30 minutes to complete, so it will not be as big of a deal as the summary/advertisement/teaser and user manual!!!

I plan on creating an advertisement (or summary because I'm not sure yet!) and the user manual over the weekend (including tomorrow!). The user manual will be based off of a video game's (such as Call of Duty, Black Ops, Mario Kart, etc) manual and will not take long to create (2-3 hours approximately). Tomorrow in class, I hope to add the actual playing portion of the game into my code because for the past 3 days, I have created a pseudo-code which uses procedures to make the code easier to read and problems easier to identify and solve. The entire code for my user interface is 400+ lines, but the actual part of the code which is executed is 33 lines, so in the end, I might just add an include ... and the user interface will only be 33 lines long!

Today, my dad just informed/registered/confirmed me of another snowboard trip. This time, we're going to Lake Placid during the first weekend of February. A week removed from this trip, we're going to Mont Tremblant!!! Both trips last the whole weekend and on both occasions, I'll be waking up on Monday/Tuesday very tired, but it's the start of the new semester so the teachers will not be mad (yet!!!). Also, I just received confirmation as I was typing the above sentence that my Theory Classes begin tomorrow (again!).

I thought my break would have been longer, but all of my extra-curriculars have taken me by full-storm and if I don't hang on tight enough, I'll be blown away with the final exams!!!

That's all for today.

Monday 10 January, 2011

shoot...

Today, I spent the entire ICS class filling in my formal project proposal. I still need to create my flowchart (I've completed that, but I need to download an application in which to create a flowchart on the computer) and write my testing report. Both will take approximately an hour and a half in total, so I'll finish that after dinner.

I tried to upload images of my run-window, but I failed miserably. Luckily, I was smart enough to upload only one file instead of all of them. I didn't realize that all the files before were saved as JPG and I didn't know that my file was saved as BMP. I tried to delete the file, but could not. Even after following the Wikispaces Help which told me to press delete I couldn't delete the file because Mr. Arkin probably disabled that feature. I tried to save the Run Window as a jpg file but the borders of the run window which display the file's name and etc does not show.

I do not want to upload another file (jpg this time) onto Wikispaces and have another stupid error occur, so I'll just wait until help arrives (from one of my friends).

I finished my Gym Culminating Activity today and will have to work extra hard to finish my English Script for tomorrow.

That's all for today.

Saturday 8 January, 2011

sorry, haven't been on this week yet...

From Monday to Wednesday, I was working on my Mosaic Project and did not have enough time to post because I had to wake up at 6am every morning for some sport-related practices (swimming, badminton).

Yesterday, I filled in part of my formal proposal and I'll finish the whole thing before Monday, along with the flowchart and testing report.

Today, I'm going to Blue Mountain, after my parents decided that the new coat of snow was just perfect! That'll kill 8 hours of my time, but then again, I'm skipping some of my other classes so that I can have more time at my hands for completing my homework (such as the Computer Apps assignment and the English Script which is supposed to be 21 minutes in length or around 10 pages...)

That's all.

Monday 3 January, 2010

it was expected, wasn't it...

I knew that the day I returned to school, I would be hammered with homework from all of my teachers and that the next two weeks will test my perserverance and determination and push them to their limits.

In Music, we were assigned an activity which involved playing a solo on our own instruments. I'll have absolutely no problem with that and can put that aside for this week so that I can focus on other things.

In English, we were assigned an activity which involved acting out a reality T.V. show which included characters from all the English Units (e.g. poetry, mythology, Shakespeare, etc,) with a duration of 21 minutes in a group of 7. This assignment will be fun and tough at the same time, but once again, I can put this one aside for a couple of days to focus on other things.

In ICS, we were assigned a blockbuster activity due at the end of the week which requires professional and organized (not to mention exquisite, extraordinary, exceptional, incredible, amongst other adjectives...) HTML, CSS, and writing skills because we have to write an article that focuses on a specific topic and educates the reader about the specific topic (I chose the history, development, and present and future use of Firewire, but might change it to Firewire vs. USB due to the word restrictions...).

I already conducted research on Firewire and found the perfect website (not Wikipedia) which focuses entirely on my topic.

Today, I spent three hours completely refiguring and changing my Website and their links so that it looks a lot more professional!!! Check it out (http://touque.ca/EC/ICS2O/students/2010-09/ICS2O7B/ZhangT/) although I still have to work on the Assignment and Glossary Archive and refine the Reference, but it's getting there...

I renovated my Web pages because today, Mr. Arkin stressed the importance of exquisite Web design and I decided that my pages were a bit under the weather.

Tomorrow, I'll finish (and start) my article and should have it up and running by then...
I'll also finish refining my pages so that they are of top quality...

It's getting late (only 9pm) so that's it...

Saturday 1 January, 2011

First post of the year!!!

Anyways, yesterday I went to sleep at 9 p.m. but couldn't fall asleep mainly because I was too excited (or worried) about the Culminating Activities and participated in All-Night-Fights-National (something my brother made up on the spot) which involved my brother attempting to beat the stuffings out of me for 3 hours! In the end, somehow, my toe hit his eye and almost blinded him, but it wasn't that serious (thank God). I finally fell asleep at 12:07, which is not a good sign because on Monday, I have to wake up at 6:30, which is a 4 hour reduction in the time I spend sleeping. I have a feeling that Monday morning will be the most exhausted one of the year yet!

Today, I spent a full hour on ICS, modifying the bouncing character and moving to four corners so that a ball (drawfilloval) replaces the character. I had no problems with the code and ended up spending most of my time attempting to reduce the code line (78 lines reduced to 52) while keeping appropriate spacing.

Sadly, I still have not finished my drawing homework (which I had taken around...3 months ago?) and I aim to finish that for today (of course, the person I have to draw and shade is extremely complex and is of extreme difficulty and standards compared to the homework assigned from the visual arts course!).

Tomorrow's the last day that I'll happily live before a tsunami (culminating and final exams) comes and washes my life away...

That's all for today.
